Theme of the Week is a post where we ask readers like you to comment with ideas for a particular theme. What ideas and suggestions do you have? What game, craft, apparel choice, theme meal, evening activity, special event, song, skit, or anything else would you do at camp if your theme was…
Under the Sea
Below are my five suggestions. Stop talking to the dolphins and leave your ideas in the comments area below.
- Hey crafts director, do some sea animal crafts.
- Anyone up for a game of Sharks and Minnows?
- Get a bunch of plastic sea creatures and place them at the bottom of the pool. Campers that retrieve the most get a prize.
- Play Little Mermaid or Finding Nemo charades. I’ll be Crush.
- Have Poseidon or Neptune make an appearance to start off the theme week or theme day.

Haha… I LOVE the “Soctopus” idea. I might have to borrow that one this summer.
Here is what I did for a preschool ocean theme camp a while back: http://corduroysbutton.wordpress.com/2012/02/15/ocean-commotion-camp-theme/
My favorite activity of the week was teaching our four year olds “The Wave.” They loved it!
We have “octodogs” for snack along with goldfish on blue plates. Cut the hotdog 2/3 of the way up 4 times creating 8 legs. When they boil, the legs curl and they look like an octopus on the plate.
