Do you find it hard to keep track of all your ideas, games, resources, etc? Create a Program Director’s Notebook to keep all your best stuff in.
Get yourself a big notebook. I suggest one from an office supply store that has sections with pockets. Or you can get a binder and put paper and as many sections as you want.
Here are some suggested sections:
- Daily Notes (parent concerns, how many kids at day camp today, disciplinary actions, etc.).
- Conference/Workshop notes
- New activity ideas
- Resources
- Training notes
- Summer overview
- A list of quick play games
- Emergency activities (for when plans fall through)
- Rainy Day programming (The weather can wreck well-established plans and having a list of activities handy will be a sanity saver.)
Thanks to Cindy Grant for this idea.
What other sections would you add to your Program Director’s Notebook?
