SCP 7: Specialty Summer Camps - Summer Camp Programming

SHOW NOTES

Curt and Chris talk about Specialty Camps, where the entire camp is all themed around one main idea. Decorations, games, activities, even registration all fits into that theme. Think Immersion Camp!
Curt usually bases his off of a book series or popular film.

Curt’s Favorites:
With these camps, the campers are often in “Training”. The idea is to bring the literary world to life.

Harry Potter
- Practice Spell Casting
- Potions
- Quidditch
Superheroes
- Discovering and training your powers
- Bring in Town Heroes (police, nurses, etc)
Star Wars
- Jedi Training
- Light Sabers
Camp Half-Blood (Percy Jackson)
- Demigod Training
- Archery and Capture the Flag

Chris usually does Specialty Camps as weekend retreats in the fall and spring.

Survivor
- Shelter building
- Fire Starting
- Cooking outside
Amazing Race (run your own Amazing Race)
Different games and activities where you and a buddy are competing against
others
Pirate Camp
Nailed It! Craft Camp
- Sometimes called Pinterest Camp
- Crafting and building stuff
- Chris brings in speakers to teach how to quilt, pallet, scrapbook, etc
Top Jr Chef
- Cooking Camp
- Learn to cook
- Make fun meals and even compete
- Tip: Keep is to a small number unless you have a Huge kitchen
Zoo/Farm Camp
- We use our Nature Center with all our exotic critters
- Kids learn how to care for and feed
- Campers even get to take what they’ve learned and teach to others
Princess/Knight Camp
- Used as a Mother & Daughter or Father Son Camp
