Whether you run an overnight camp or a day camp, getting staff to be on time in the morning or for a meeting is often a struggle. Laura was dealing with this issue and wanted to create an incentive for returning a little early.
She now has a system where staff check in 15 minutes earlier than required and receive a raffle ticket. She has a wide range of prizes from silly trinkets up to gift cards and wireless speakers.
This has worked incredibly well. It’s also really fun. She hosts the raffle at a staff meeting and the number of late arrivals is nearly zero.
Her first thought was a financial bonus for those back early for each day off, but then the incentive is gone if the person is late just one time. This system keeps the motivation going, and staff go on their day off in groups, so they prompt one another to return on time.
Thanks to Laura Hall for sharing this idea.
